We started as a playgroup for families who wanted to have their children play in English. In the early days we had both Japanese, biracial, and non-Japanese participants. As the years passed, it became clear that the kids who had English as a native language had different needs to the non-native kids, so over time we phased out the EFL aspect of the program and focused on literacy for our native speakers.

Wie funktioniert es?
|
We are sort of a free-wheeling social experience and learning group that meets and uses English on Saturday mornings.
We do all sorts of things together : make mochi; go on a trips to the library; cook together; and of course reading and writing in English. Our greatest accomplishment in 2010 was the writing of a guidebook for kids visiting Fukuoka.
See our website blog archive to see more of what we do together.

Wie funktioniert die Gruppe weitermachen?

It has its own momentum now - for most families it is simply a habit to head off to Kidz Group every Saturday morning. However, with several of our members having entered or soon-to-enter junior high school, we are starting to experience some difficulty with attendance. Many kids are becoming too busy with school and extra curricular events to make our Saturday meeting. Plans for our future direction are now under discussion.
