OUR MISSION:
Our main goal as an association in the French Alpes region of France is to welcome English-speaking newcomers to the area and to support them as they transition to a French way of life. We also aim to provide opportunities for interaction between members of all ages, nationalities, and backgrounds with a pathway to the exchange of ideas and information. OUR ACTIVITIES: Open House has several Interest Groups that are lead by members who have an interest in a particular activity. * Wine Tasters * English Book Group * English library * Coffee Chat Mornings * Chillout Evernings * French-English Exchange * Creative writers alliance * Baby & Toddler activities * Children activities * Wellness group * Mountain & outdoor activities * Cycling club * Cultural days out * Kids days out In addition to the activities lead by the Interests Groups, Open House sponsors several seasonal events, including the Members’ Market and Holiday Bazaar; the Christmas Aperitif, the Spring Easter Egg Hunt, Annual Ski day; Summer Picnic, Teddy Bears Picnic, and many others including the children’s holiday parties. OUR MEMBERS: The membership of Open House includes families and single people, men and women; young and old. Our members are all English speakers and represent 27 different countries, so not all speak English as a first language. All of our members live (or have lived) in the city of Grenoble or the surrounding areas. Many members are here for a short stay in the area but most have been around for 3 years or more. We hold two annual meetings for general membership. The Annual Meeting is held in March and features the election of new Board Member officers. The Rentree Meeting is held in September and features a membership drive and presentation of the Interest Groups and activities planned for the membership year.

We know what it means to pack up and come to live in a foreign country where the language and customs may be very different from home. The support offered by kindred spirits helps ease the transition during this exciting but challenging time.
