Schule dauert von 9:00 bis 11:30 Uhr. Die Kinder haben eine kurze Pause im Verlauf des Morgens für einen Snack (von zuhause mitbringen) und um Zeit auf dem Spielplatz zu verbringen. Die Kinder werden die ganze Zeit über beaufsichtigt.
School runs from 9am to 11.30am. Children have a short break during the morning when they can have a snack (bring one from home) and spend some time in the playground. Children are supervised at all times. Anneliese Druskat fing mit einer kleinen Anzahl an Schülern an, wobei das große Engagement und der Einsatz, den sie als Schulleiterin zeigte, zu einer Rekordanzahl von 130 Schülern 1993/94 in zwei Standorten (East Melbourne und Boronia) führte.
Anneliese Druskat initially started with a small number of students, and over the next 20 years the great commitment and input she gave as the head of the school resulted in a record number of 130 students in 1993/94 spread over two sites - East Melbourne and Boronia. | ||||||||

Das Hauptanliegen der Schule ist es, die drei wichtigsten sprachlichen Fähigkeiten des Sprechens und Verstehens, Lesens und Schreibens, und der Liebe zur Sprache und Kultur durch Bereitstellen von Programmen, die Tradition und Gebräuche mit einbeziehen, zu fördern.
Deutschunterricht findet in der Schule nach einem vom Lehrer erstelltem Lehrplan statt, der im Einklang mit der Klassenstufe und Sprachfertigkeit der Schüler erstellt wird. Normalerweise beinhalten Unterrichtsstunden Grammatik, Rechtschreibung, kulturellen Projekte sowie Spiel- und Spaßaktivitäten. Wir veranstalten einen jährlichen Schulausflug mit Ausrichtung auf die deutsche Kultur und beenden das Schuljahr mit einem Weihnachtskonzert. Weitere Höhepunkte des Schuljahres sind die jährliche Weihnachtsfeier und das deutsche Frühstück im Verlauf der Jahreshauptversamlung. Alle unsere Lehrer sind Muttersprachler und haben anerkannte Abschlüsse. The main aim of the school is to develop the three main language skills of speaking and listening, reading and writing, and to foster a love of language and culture by providing programs that include traditions and customs. German lessons are conducted at the school according to a teacher set curriculum which is designed according to the students’ year level and competency. Generally, lessons combine Grammatik, writing, cultural projects as well as games and fun activities. We include an annual excursion with a German cultural focus and end the school year with a Christmas concert. Other highlights of the school year are the annual Christmas party and the German breakfast at the AGM. All our teachers are native German speakers and have recognised qualifications. The fees for 2009 are $650.00 for the year per child. There is a DEET subsidy available to primary and high school registered children. The full years fees are due at the beginning of term one. Sie finanziert sich durch Schulgebühren, die von Community Ethnic Education, dem Bildungsministerium Victorias und dem Deutschen Konsulat bezuschußt werden.
The German Saturday School is a non-profit organisation that is run, organised and administered by an annually elected parents' committee. It is financed through student fees which are subsidised by Community Ethnic Education, the Victorian Department of Education and the German Consulate. | ||||||||
