本校は１９８０年に大使館，企業関係者及び長期滞在者有志の尽力により設立され，以来フィンランド唯一の日本語環境での教育機関として運営が続けられています｡
当初は生徒数十数名，講師２名の小規模校として始まりましたが，現在では幼稚部から中学部まで児童生徒数約50名，講師9名にまで成長しています｡市内の現地小学校施設を賃借し,校舎として使用しています｡ ***************************************** The school was established through the efforts of volunteers who have long term relationships and business operations in Finland. It is still the only place offering our children where they can learn to read and write Japanese. It was initially only a few dozen students and two teachers. Now, the number of children in the kindergarten through to junior high is about 50 people. We now have nine teachers. The school has grown, so we now rent the facilities of a local school. | ||||||||

毎週土曜日（午前）に現地の小学校を借りて、国語授業を行っています。
新年度時（4月2日）に満５〜１５歳の児童（年長児童から、小・中学生）。両親のいずれかが日本人であることが原則となっています。 日本と同じ４月始まり３学期制です。主な休みは、夏休み（６−８月中旬）、冬休み（クリスマス前から約２週間）、春休み（３月の最後の週）です。 授業は文部省指導要領に準拠し、文部省交付教科書と一部通信教育教材を使用します。海外校での指定教科書（国語）を使用しますので、海外子女教育振興財団で確認と入手をしてください。参考書、問題集などは、日本より一括してとりよせ、適宜、頒布します（実費保護者負担。 ******************************************* The school is for Japanese speaking children living in Finland aged between 5 and 15 years old. The school has opened its doors to include the children who have one Japanese parent, and those that have lived at length in Japan. The school year starts in April as it does in Japan, and has three terms. Classes are conducted on Saturdays. Breaks are in the summer and at Christmas. Classes are organized according to the level of the student, and are not bound by age. Classes follow the guidelines as laid out by the Ministry of Education in Japan. Textbooks and educational materials have been brought in with the help of grants from the Ministry of Education, Japan. | ||||||||

運営は､保護者から毎年選出された運営委員会で行っています。保護者による積極的な運営参加が学校活動の基本になりますので、新しく入学される生徒の保護者の方々にその旨ご理解お願い致します。運営にかかる経費は日本政府等の助成金と保護者負担金、及び有志による各種イベント参加での収益寄付金でまかなっています。

They oversee the basic operation of school activities, and support parents of newly enrolled students. Our operating expenses are paid by the Government of Japan and participation fees. Volunteering plays an important role in keeping our school well. To ensure the well being of the school.
